Two NHL'ers Are in Hot Water and Being Investigated by The Police
A high-profile fishing tournament and concert series at the Tofino Resort and Marina, which is partly owned by former NHLers Willie Mitchell and Dan Hamhuis, have been cancelled.
"We were extremely upset to hear about highly inappropriate behaviour connected to one of our annual events. Our first concern is for our staff, and we are responding to the needs of those affected," the statement said.
"We have brought in an interim manager and continue to take steps to ensure the absolute safety and well-being of our team.'
Phone calls to the Tofino Resort and Marina's guest services line and to the 1909 Kitchen and Bar went unanswered.
Mitchell and Hamhuis are part of a group of investors, that includes developer Andrew Purdey, who purchased the high-end resort in 2016. Mitchell apparently deleted his Instagram account at some point on Wednesday morning, an account he'd used to share many photos of him fishing and out on the water.
Attempts to reach Mitchell, Hamhuis and Purdey have not been successful. Island District RCMP police would not comment on the situation.
