Would Marc-Andre Fleury make sense for the Chicago Blackhawks?
Recently, the Minnesota Wild signed Filip Gustavsson long-term, putting a lot of pressure on him. This news, combined with Jesper Wallstedt's eagerness to play, suggests that Marc-Andre Fleury's time in Minnesota may be coming to an end.
This opens up more options for Chicago to find another goalie, especially with Alex Stalock's departure and Petr Mrazek's injury issues.
Given how familiar Fleury is with the team and the personnel, the transition back to Chicago shouldn't be difficult for him and his family either.
Fleury's current contract ($3.5 million AAV) still has one year remaining, which means he could be a cost-effective option to help train up Drew Commesso and Arvid Soderblom if necessary.
Fleury is the solution to this problem, and there are different approaches to take to achieve success.
