When you think of best pure goal scorers in the NHL who comes to mind? Some names that come to mind have to be Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Teemu Selanne, and of course Alex Ovechkin just to name a few.

A lot of the hockey world are watching the race to see if the Great Eight can break the Great One's NHL goal record.

However, have you ever wondered who's the best even strength goal scorer? Well you're in luck, as a new statistic which examines Era Adjusted stats has now taken a look at who the best goal scorer of all time really is.

Based on their statistics when you examine all situations, Even Strength, Powerplay and Short Handed the list reads as follows:

Era-Adjusted Goals Per GP, First 6 Seasons, Since Original Six Era All Situations

1. Wayne Gretzky 0.69
2. Alex Ovechkin 0.68
3. Brett Hull 0.68
4. Auston Matthews 0.66
5. Mario Lemieux 0.65
6. Steven Stamkos 0.64
7. Teemu Selanne 0.64
8. Mike Bossy 0.61
9. Eric Lindros 0.60

You got Wayne Gretzky, Alex Ovechkin, and Brett Hull as the top three with every type a goal combined.

However when it comes just to even strength goals alone we got a very interesting reveal.
