"The Chicago Blackhawks are once again in the twilight zone salary cap world where general manager Stan Bowman will have to make some tough decisions. One decision will be to try and figure out what exactly he's going to do at the starting goaltender position. Corey Crawford will UFA and the team doesn't exactly have a fat bank roll of cap space to keep him around. Will Crawford be willing to sign a team friendly deal to come back to Chicago?Possibly, but he'd have to be guaranteed the #1 role and no Robin Lehner competition like this past season. «I would like to be back,» he said on Tuesday morning. «I think we still have a lot of great pieces on this team. To win another Stanley Cup in Chicago would be unbelievable.»
«I'm leaning toward staying in Chicago and I want to win another championship and play a ton,» Crawford said. «I don't want to play half the games and sit on the bench for stretches at a time. I think my value is just not as good doing that. I'm way more valuable playing games and playing consistently. It really depends on how much I'm going to be used.»
«We'll see how the discussions go,» Crawford said. «But staying in Chicago and trying to win again — that's No. 1 for me.»
What do you think of Crawford's comments?
