Legendary NFL Coach and Former Player Passes Away at 74

The Sports World is mourning the loss of a former NFL player and Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills coach

A legendary former member head coach, Dick Jauron, has sadly passed away at 74 years of age.
Once with the Buffalo Bills and Chicago, leading the Bears for 4 years (1999-2003) and once winning the AP Coach Of The Year Award with the team, going 13-3.
After going two-seasons straight with a winless record, he was quickly fired by the Bears, Lavie Smith took his place.
Then hired by the Bills in 2006, his career in Buffalo lasted until 2009 when they fired him mid-season, as he struggled to bring them to playoff contention.

Dick Jauron's playing career in the NFL

Despite a 60-82 combined record during his tensure as an NHL coach for 10-seasons, Jauron spent eight years as a player for the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals.
Jauron earned Pro Bowl honours in 1974, after retiring from the NFL in 1980.
"Coach Jauron was also known for his time a legendary high school football, basketball and baseball player in Swampscott, MA where he was named one of the top 10 high school football players in Massachusetts history by the Boston Globe.

He went on to have a historic playing career at Yale as a running back and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015. He played defensive back in the NFL from 1973-1980 with the Detroit Lions (1973-77) and Cincinnati Bengals (1978-80). In 1974, he was named to the Pro Bowl after leading the NFC in punt return average with the Lions.''
