Disgraced forward Corey Perry issues statement on retirement from the NHL
The Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers are preparing for their final game tomorrow night and during the scrum, Marc Spector asked Corey Perry if he intends to retire at the end of this series to which Perry surprised him and the rest of the media with his answer.
It's safe to say that it's very doubtful that he will play another five years of hockey as he is 39 years old. Over the past couple of seasons, his numbers have declined as father time continues to approach him. Known for his scoring touch, he has played eighteen playoff games and only scored one goal with two assists for three points and is a - 3.
Corey Perry, asked if tmw will be his last game: "Uh, no. I've got more in me. I've got lots more in me: five more years." (Media scrum laughs). "What's so funny? I feel like I'm 25!"
The former Blackhawks forward has had a turbulent year as he was released from the Blackhawks earlier this season due to an issue that was held at a corporate event. Having won the Stanley Cup in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks,
Perry brought vast experience to the teams he's visited including the Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, Dallas Stars, the Ducks and the Oilers. All 5 organisations he has been to the Stanley Cup finals at least once.
It will be a game of the ages tomorrow as the Oilers had stormed back and tied the series 3-3 and now it's the best of one where anybody can take this game and the cup.
