A huge rumor regarding Patrick Kane to the Buffalo Sabres has been confirmed

Would Patrick Kane be a fit for his hometown team, the Buffalo Sabres? While playoffs are still ongoing, teams are making plans for free agency.

According to Bet Michigan, a website compiling Michigan-based sportsbooks, Patrick Kane to Buffalo is considered the fifth likeliest destination for Kane.

The website has a +115 Odds, or 46.5% chance that Kane will re-sign with the Detroit Red Wings.

The Red Wings have 4 UFAs they will need to cut loose or sign, with Daniel Sprong, David Perron, and Christian Fischer rounding out the 4.

While Kane only signed for a year and played only 50 games, he still performed at almost a point-per-game level with 47 points(20 G, 27 A) after his hip-resurfacing surgery.

Despite his great performance, the Red Wings will have RFA's to take care of before this UFAs like Kane, as Lucas Raymond and Mortiz Seider are due contracts well.

Raymond has had a career year, with 72 Points( 31 G, 41 A) in 82 games with the Red Wings. Mortiz Seider is a top-pairing, minutes-eating defenseman, who did excellent facing the opponent's best forwards and averaging more than a point every two games.

Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres have a +1450 odds, or 6.5% chance of signing Kane according to Bet Michigan. Unlike the laundry list of teams who want to enlist Kane's services, he is easy to fit under the Sabres salary cap.

The team has 8 of 12 forwards under contract in 2024-2025, while 9 players are under team control as RFA's. Notable RFAs are: Henri Jokiharju, Jacob Bryson and Peyton Krebs.

Buffalo has prospects who are close to making the NHL roster, and with $23 Million in cap space to play with according to PuckPedia, they could easily sign someone like Patrick Kane as a veteran presence.

Kane could be utilized on the right-wing and be a jolt to the Buffalo power-play instantly.
