Ryan Gagnier And D.J. King

The Chicago Blackhawks have made two-signings as they have re-signed defenseman D.J. King and forward Ryan Gagnier.

Both players have signed with the Blackhawks affilliate the IceHogs for the 2024-2025 AHL season.
"Ryan's rookie season saw him play games in both Indy and Rockford, and we were impressed with his progression throughout the year," said IceHogs President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Mark Bernard. "He is a smart player that will continue to develop, and we're happy it's within our organization."

Forward Gagnier, 21, played 5 games with the IceHogs last season, while spending the majority of the season in the ECHL with the Indy Fuel.
He played 53 games in the ECHL, but would tally his first AHL goal against the Milwaukee Admirals.
He would score in total 28 points(8 G, 20 A) including his appearance in five ECHL Kelly Cup Playoff games.

The Tecumseh, Ontario born forward previously played in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals, in 2022-2023, leading the team with 69 points( 31 G, 38 A). He played four seasons in the OHL prior, to making his move to the ECHL.
"D.J. did a great job last year in Indy for us and adds depth to our back end," said Bernard. "We are excited to watch him take the next step in his development."

King, was an late addition to the Icehogs last season, likewise with Gagnier spending the majority of his time in the ECHL with the Indy Fuel.
King would post 11 ploints(4 G, 7 A) in 57 games in Indy, while contributing an assist in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
King is a 6'3" 216 pound defenseman, who will be playing his fourth year of professional hockey, while prior spending his junior career in the OHL with the Saginaw Spirit, Hamilton Bulldogs, and two seasons in the USNDTP.
He previously played two games in the AHL with the Grand Rapid Griffins, in 2021-2022, King's father is the former IceHogs head coach and currently Blackhawks assistant coach.
