The NHL and KHL last year were thought to be at odds, as nothing has been resolved at the international level, as the governing body has made numerous rulings against the KHL.

But, since then the KHL has letting major prospects walk, including Ivan Fedotov who made it overseas in April.

I'm very surprised that Roman Kantserov is allowed to attend #Blackhawks development camp.

Now, we're getting a surprise in the Central Division, as the Blackhawks will get a surprising attendee from the 2023 NHL Draft.

Roman Kantserov was selected 44th overall, and has played in the KHL for Magnitogorsk Metallurg and played 53 games in the KHL, posting 15 points( 7 G, 8 A) and 26 PIMs.

Kantserov will be joining 22 other forwards, including other draft picks from years past including 2022.

There will be 23 forwards in the camp, including Nazar. Here's that list:

Frank Nazar III
Sacha Boisvert*
Oliver Moore
Gavin Hayes
Ryan Greene
Dominic James
Roman Kantserov
Aidan Thompson
Nick Lardis
Martin Misiak
Paul Ludwinski
Samuel Savoie
Marek Vanacker*
John Mustard*
AJ Spellacy*
Jack Pridham*
Jiri Felcman
Nils Juntorp
Alex Pharand
Milton Oscarson
Victor Stjernborg
Riku Tohila
Joel Svensson*
* = 2024 draft picks

.

Kantserov didn't join the development camp last year, so this is a major development in itself.

Has the KHL decided to be less reactionary, or again show that it delivers some of the best talent from overseas?

Either way, we will have a great gathering of names to see train in the beginning of their eventual journey to the NHL, we hope.
