Former NHL & Stanley Cup winner plays through KHL series with a broken leg

Hockey Worldwide on Instagram reported that Paquette broke his leg and continued to play through eight games in the Kontinental Hockey League Playoffs in Russia with Dynamo Moscow. Another player was suffering from an injury. Forward Nikita Gusev was playing with a severe fracture. Paquette didn't let his injury stop him, scoring 7 points (4 goals and 3 assists).

Paquette, aged 30, departed North America in the summer of 2022 following his tenure with the Montreal Canadiens during the 2021-22 season. During that summer, he inked a deal with Dynamo Minsk before transitioning to Dynamo Moscow for the 2023-24 season. In the current season, Paquette played 57 games for Dynamo Moscow, tallying 35 points (22 goals, 13 assists), accumulating 27 penalty minutes, and achieving a plus-six rating.

The Gaspe, Quebec native's performance in Russia over the past two seasons may warrant a contract offer in North America. However, considering his injury, it remains to be seen how his situation unfolds in the upcoming months and whether an NHL team will extend him an opportunity, possibly through a professional tryout.
