The Blackhawks are Doing Something Special for Tommy Hawks Birthday!

On April 6th, it will be the Chicago Blackhawks mascot, Tommy Hawk's birthday celebration.
That day, the team will be changing how they broadcast their usual hockey games.
On April 6th against the Dallas Stars, the team will broadcast Tommy Hawk's birthday game in VR.
«Every day, we're challenging ourselves to bring hockey to fans in new ways, and we're incredibly excited to bring the first-ever local animated game to kids across Chicagoland and beyond in partnership with NBC Sports Chicago and the NHL,» says Jaime Faulkner, President of Business Operations for the Chicago Blackhawks. «It's our highest priority to introduce Blackhawks fandom to our youngest generation, and this passion project of ours is fueled by our ongoing efforts to share the game we love with families in ways that connect with their daily lives.»
The game is a collaborative effort between NBC Sports Chicago and the Chicago Blackhawks who will deliver the game in a virtual reality setting, and the
animated telecast will be real-time as well.

This animated telecast will be utilizing multiple forms of data thanks to NHL EDGE( consisting of player and puck tracking) to deliver the game to the audience.
Joining the VR Telecast will be Chris Vosters who will be joining the birthday celebrations on an invite, for the innovative telecast.

This along with Tommy Hawk's birthday, will be another attempt at building the NHL by targeting the youngest generation and building new fans for the game, for the future of course.
