BREAKING: Chicago Blackhawks Complete Major Goaltending Signing
The Chicago Blackhawks are making moves, and their latest one involves keeping goaltender Petr Mrazek for the next two years with an $8.5 million contract.
This marks the third player the Blackhawks have signed to an extension this season, following deals with Jason Dickinson and Nick Foligno.
Mrazek's performance this season has been good, showcasing a significant improvement. With a 12-17-1 record in 32 appearances, he boasts a solid .907 save percentage and a 3.01 goals-against average.
After a couple of challenging seasons prior to 2023-24, Mrazek is reverting to the form that defined his earlier career, making him a valuable asset for the Blackhawks.
Expected to be a popular choice leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline with his expiring deal, Mrazek's extension takes him off the market.
He will continue to play a crucial role in the Blackhawks' goaltending, whether as a starter or backup, aligning with the team's rebuilding phase and patient approach to returning to playoff contention.
