Joel Quenneville's Wishful Hopes For NHL Return Now Over

While it was relatively easy for Stan Bowman to find work in the NHL, Joel Quenneville may not have the same luck, as he remains jobless.
With very few coaching vacancies in the NHL, Coach Joel Quenneville was hopeful with his storied legacy he'd be a shoo-in for a job in the league.
Quenneville led the Chicago Blackhawks to three Stanley Cups during the 2010s and had an elite lineup, featuring
Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Brent Seabrook. He'd later turn the Florida Panthers organization around in the 2020s and turn them into playoff contenders once he arrived.
Yet after the Kyle Beach incident, and the fallout from it Quenneville would resign in late October 2021.
It wouldn't be until July 2024 that Gary Bettman would reinstate both Stan Bowman and Quenneville, giving them the opportunity to find a job in the league. Bowman would find work in Edmonton, once Holland retired.
Last April Coach Q had a shortlist of ten teams he'd love to coach:
If reinstated by Gary Bettman and the NHL, Quenneville has some teams in mind he thinks he could coach. Without specifically naming any, he said "One day I think I've coached my last game, and the next day I'm sitting there like geez, I'd like to get a hold of that team. That'd be fun to work with. There's a list of about 10 right now."
But Coach Quenneville has yet to find work, which is surprising. With the news of Todd McLellan being hired. Quenneville is 2nd all-time in wins with 969 in the NHL.
It's hard to say what it will take for Joel Quenneville to find a job in the NHL. Maybe he will have to accept a lesser role in the league until a team can feel they can trust him.
While, it'd seem a no-brainer to hire him, it's surprising his friend in Bowman hasn't pulled strings in Edmonton to see what he could do there.
Coach Quenneville record in the NHL is 1,768 games coached, with a 969-572-77 record, and Three Stanley Cups to his name.
