Chicago Blackhawks fans are upset, as GM Kyle Davidson dropped the ball regarding bringing back legend Patrick Kane.

This season, the Chicago Blackhawks are a "work in progress", as they're the last team in the Central Division.

GM Kyle Davidson spent like a drunken sailor on veteran talent, which has yet to pay off, and in the case of Laurent Brossoit has yet to play a game.

However, one veteran they refuse to consider is Patrick Kane. Why? Last season the forward had 47 points in 51 games with the Red Wings.

And now, under Head Coach Tod McLellan, Kane and the Wings went on a seven-game winning streak.

And now, they're reaping the rewards of "Showtime" in Hockeytown.

You can't help but relate as the fans are unhappy with the direction of the product. It's simultaneously difficult to watch, as the team isn't "improved" despite their recent signings.

Not to mention, the CHSN debacle has the team's fingerprints all over it.

Now, fans are clamoring for a player whose name echoes a better time in history for the team, and you can't blame them.

Barstool Sports on a Kane return to Chicago:

Up until a few weeks ago, I was confident Kane wouldn't be returning to the Blackhawks next season.

But, now, I'm not so confident about what's going to happen. I've heard enough in the past few weeks to believe that the Blackhawks are going to at least internally discuss whether to re-sign Kane. The answer may not change, but I do think it's an agenda item as they lead up to free agency.

There is the question of whether Kane wants to return, but I do believe he's open to it. Kyle Davidson made sure Kane's departure was as smooth as possible, and that the relationship wasn't fractured.

Veteran Mishaps

GM Kyle Davidson blew nearly $30 Million in cap space on veteran forwards, defensemen, and a goalie.

With nothing to show for it.

His moves led to the firing of Head Coach Luke Richardson and replacing him with Interim Coach Anders Sorensen.

The team under Sorensen looks better, but there are still kinks there, and one of them is offense. The Hawks have a -39 goal differential, and it's hard to "improve" when your team lacks the firepower that others have.

GM Kyle Davidson screwed the pooch pushing away the old leadership core.
