Blackhawks' GM Kyle Davidson Reveals Insight On The Blackhawks Next Head Coach
The Chicago Blackhawks are in a debacle, as they have Interim Coach Anders Sorensen at the helm, but could Kyle Davidson find a new Head Coach soon?
The Chicago Blackhawks need a new head coach. Anders Sorensen has served in the Interim, and after the firing of Luke Richardson but nothing is certain about his chances of staying onboard.
Despite the shift in coaching strategies, he hasn't improved the team's record.
Sorensen is 7-12-1 with the Blackhawks and has a .384 winning percentage, not even above .500!
So what will GM Kyle Davidson do?
There's been speculation that with multiple Blackhawks' prospect ties to Denver University, they could attempt to lure Coach David Carle to Chicago.
Landing Coach Carle would be a huge coup for Davidson, Carle's won back-to-back World Championships in the IIHF WJC.
He's also led the Pioneers to multiple national championships and is a consistent winner.
David Carle may be a generational head coaching prospect. After earning his head coaching job at the University of Denver at 28 years old, Carle has led the Pioneers to two national championships. In his first two trips to the World Junior Championship, he led Team USA to back-to-back gold medals, unprecedented in USA Hockey history. He just turned 35 years old.
He was already one of the top coaching prospects in the game and NHL teams have expressed interest before. That will not slow down now. In fact, it's going to be unavoidable every time a new coaching opening comes up.
Winning is not easy. Yet, Carle has made winning consistently his hallmark.
While the collegiate hockey season isn't over until April, we have no news of discussions between the two parties.
University of Denver, he won a national championship with Cole Guttman as his captain and is currently coaching Aidan Thompson (who is among the national leaders in points and goals right now). For USA Hockey, he's coached Frank Nazar, Oliver Moore, Sam Rinzel and Gavin Hayes. At this point, we're thinking long-term, and if Sorensen isn't going to stay in Chicago, Davidson should be thinking far ahead.
But nothing is confirmed. We know the folks at Bleacher Nation think he's the Blackhawks' next golden goose if they acquire him. He could be the exact piece to build the next Blackhawks dynasty.
David Carle should be the obvious target for the Blackhawks if they already have a short list of candidates they are considering.
