Blackhawks' Seth Jones Attends Dinner With Another Team Amidst Trade Discussions
Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones attends dinner with another team and it signals his next NHL destination as he and Kyle Davidson are discussing a trade
Over the past week, the trade rumors were put to rest as they were confirmed by Seth Jones himself that he is indeed being traded by the Chicago Blackhawks.
Jones stated that he and Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson are actively working on a trade, to send Jones to another organization.
According to Jones, he and his agent went public with this info as they are attempting to 'push the needle further' as the NHL trade deadline is quickly approaching on March 7.
«Obviously, this is my fourth year here. I'm not going to go through the whole process when I signed. Just where I'm at, you know, 30 years old, I still have some good years ahead. I want to hope to maybe be in a situation where I'm competing for a Stanley Cup, at least playing some meaningful games in May and hopefully June. That's where I am right now. Discussions with the agent and stuff like that have been going on. Obviously, there's a lot of moving parts to something like this. But it is what it is, kind of, right now.»
That was one of Jones' many lengthy comments when questioned by the Blackhawks media about ongoing trade talks.
Jones made it clear he wants to go to a contending team, or let alone a team with a winning culture at the moment. Could that be his former team?
As the Chicago Blackhawks are gearing up for their first game following the completion of the 4 Nations break, Jones took it upon himself to attend a team dinner with an interesting team to watch.
Jones attended a team dinner with the Columbus Blue Jackets and their captain
Boone Jenner, alongside others, including defenseman Zach Werenski.
Zach Werenski and Boone Jenner had dinner with Seth Jones in Columbus last night. Did Werenski start putting on the hard sell to convince Jones to engineer a trade back to the Blue Jackets?
Surprisingly, Werenski was asked about this dinner, and stated he would be open to welcoming Jones back to Columbus.
"I haven't yet. Obviously, I'd be open to it. I loved playing with him."
As Jones is on his way out of Chicago, add the Columbus Blue Jackets further up on the list as a suitable destination.
