The Chicago Blackhawks Pat Maroon has received discipline for elbowing the Dallas Stars' Mavrik Bourque during last night's match.

The three-time Stanley Cup winner Pat Maroon's wallet will feel lighter this week. The Blackhawks grinder was fined the "CBA maximum" for elbowing the Dallas Stars' Mavrik Bourque in the back of the head.

The fine levied is $3,385.42, the CBA max allowed for the penalty, which for Maroon shouldn't account to much.

The penalty occurred at 15:39 into the third period where Maroon would be penalized for holding Logan Stankoven and then elbowing the Stars rookie, Mavrik Bourque.

This was a period later after Tyler Bertuzzi was penalized and given a game misconduct for his actions against Colin Blackwell.

The game last night had tempers flaring, as the Blackhawks were unable to mount a comeback against the team they'd defeated earlier in the year with a score of 6-2, and Taylor Hall's hat-trick leading the way.

However, Maroon hasn't been much of a factor in the 2nd half for the Blackhawks this season, as the offensive system has shifted towards the skilled, and speedy forwards with Anders Sorensen as the bench boss.

In 34 games this season for the Blackhawks he's scored only 9 points( 1 G, 8 A) for the team, and has been a staple on the team's fourth-line, with Lukas Reichel, and Craig Smith(when healthy).

Maroon's contract will expire at the end of the season, as a UFA, with a cap hit of $1.3 Million AAV.

Did Pat Maroon deserve worse for his penalty against Mavrik Bourque?
