The Chicago Blackhawks should be considered front-runners to host the next best-on-best in the NHL in 2028, the World Cup of Hockey.

Today the NHL hosted a press conference ahead of the Four Nations Face-Off, in Montreal. The conference addressed significant events that are happening in the future, as Gary Bettman announced the World Cup of Hockey in 2028.
With the Olympics happening in 2026, the NHL seeks to have the WCOH happen every two years in between international play.
Gary Bettman and Bill Daly confirmed that eight teams would be taking part in the competition.
Unlike years prior there won't be a "Team Europe" or "Team North America".
One tidbit of information dropped, that cities would be able to bid on hosting the event set to happen in 2028.
Chicago should be one of those cities considered for the tournament, given its rich hockey history as an original six city.

Location, Location

As a sprawling metropolitan location, there's plenty of lodging, and food in the area as accommodation for players around the world.
While the NHL and its partners could find a way to work both the Fifth Third Arena and the United Center into its schedule.
The hockey culture in Chicago runs deep, and by the time 2028 rolls around we should expect to see Connor Bedard mature into the generational talent we'd thought he'd be.
Bedard is a shoo-in for Team Canada should the next GM decide to pick him for the roster for the WCOH.
While Bedard isn't the only Canadian on the roster who could be considered, the Blackhawks have a plethora of talent trickling in, along with veterans who could find a spot wearing the legendary Maple Leaf.
The NHL has hosted multiple Winter Classics in Chicago and now should consider the city as a host for the 2028 World Cup of Hockey.
