Team USA's Awesome Gesture for the Gaudreau Family At The Four Nations Face Off
Guy Gaudreau joined Team USA for practices this week and they decided to make an amazing gesture for the Gaudreau family this week.
USA Hockey made an honorable, heartfelt gesture for the Gaudreau's this week, as practice continued before the Four Nations Face-Off.
While forward Johnny Gaudreau may no longer be with us, he was there in spirit as Team USA made a spot for Johnny in their locker room.
A memorial was made for Johnny by the team where his jersey would hang, along with a banner with his #13 adorning the stall, while his father Guy joined Team USA for practice.
He was seen in videos on the ice with
Jack Hughes and
Chris Kreider, undoubtedly talking shop and sharing their love of the game of hockey.
You would've expected Johnny Gaudreau to suit up for Team USA this season. And with Guy participating, the jersey, and stall were a great way of keeping him alive in memory.
Team USA made the effort to include Guy Gaudreau in practice and multiple players went out of their way to show their support, and take notes from Johnny's dad, as seen above.
Their support for the Gaudreau's during this trying time shows that the community remains behind him.
The Death of Johnny Continues to Reverberate In the Hockey Community
Johnny and Matthew were killed in a senseless accident in August by a drunk driver while riding their bikes in rural New Jersey the night before their sister's wedding.
The devastation would send shockwaves throughout the hockey community and NHL, as Gaudreau finished another year of his contract with the Blue Jackets before the start of the 2024-2025 season.
The team would raise a banner in his honor, and multiple teams across the league would construct makeshift memorials to remember him.
Hockey fans and players everywhere continue to be affected by the tragic passing of Johnny and Matthew.
