The Chicago Blackhawks March 7 Trade Deadline Plans Should Look Exactly Like This

The Chicago Blackhawks are preparing to be sellers at the March seventh trade deadline, and according to recent reports they are linked the multiple big names, but is it the right move?
Ahead of the March seventh NHL trade deadline the Chicago Blackhawks have been rumored to be selling off big pieces such as $9.5M defenseman
Seth Jones, forward
Ryan Donato who's hitting career highs in all categories, as well as several other glue pieces named to be on the move in 3X Stanley Cup Champion Pat Maroon.
On the flip side of things, they're reportedly being linked to some bigger names, such as Anaheim Ducks' former 9th overall pick
Trevor Zegras.
In the grand scheme of things, Zegras it another top line calibre forward could greatly benefit
Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks at this point, but it is absolutely pointless; here's why.
The Chicago Blackhawks are in last place within the NHL standings and in the Central Division, there is a zero percent chance that they make the playoffs this season (which shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody), even with an impactful trade deadline acquisition in a big named star.
Connor Bedard and
Artyom Levshunov are prime examples as to why teams tank, with hopes to purposely fall back in the NHL standings to earn a higher draft lottery pick. Why ruin that? The Blackhawks will have a fresh slate next season, and the third reason below really seals the deal.
The Blackhawks, lead by general manager Kyle Davidson, are heading into this off-season with a projected $30M+ free spade of salary cap after several current roster players contracts will expire. Waiting until this NHL off-season where more cap space will be available and their future contracts will be more organized is truly key.
This past off-season, KD announced that 'the rebuild is over and we're ready to win', which cearly that hasn't came to fruition and has disappointed fans as a promised was failed to be met.
Acquiring reinforcements at this point of a lost-cause season is not going to make fans love the organization again, starting off the 2025-26 NHL season in the win column with a stable roster and support around Connor Bedard would.
With
Mitch Marner and
Mikko Rantanen amongst just a few of the bigger names in free agency, the Blackhawks must prepare to pump the breaks on the March 7 NHL trade deadline.
