Brock Faber issues surprise statement on Calder rival Connor Bedard
In the heat of competition, displaying sportsmanship is key, and rookie defenseman Brock Faber exemplifies this. Amidst the tight race for the Calder Trophy, Faber extends admiration towards his contender, Connor Bedard, showcasing humility and respect.
Despite his team's 4-0 win over the Blackhawks, Faber showers Bedard with compliments, recognizing his exceptional talent and impact on the ice.
"Obviously, it's awesome to see," Faber said. "He's a superstar. He's incredible.Playing against him, you gotta' know where he is on the ice every time he steps on the ice. He's that good."
While Faber remains one of the top contenders in the Calder Trophy race, his attention remains fixated on the team's success rather than personal goals.
"But other than that, I'm not focused on any of the Calder stuff, i'm just focused on winning games and, again, just putting my best foot forward."
Bedard's impressive rookie season continues to gain attention, leading all NHL rookies in goals and points. Both Faber and Bedard have navigated unique paths to reach the NHL. Faber's journey includes honing his skills in developmental programs and collegiate hockey, while Bedard emerged from the WHL as a top draft pick. Despite their distinct backgrounds, both players exemplify dedication and perseverance in pursuit of their NHL dreams.
Regardless of individual achievements, their focus remains on the game and contributing to their team's success.
