The Chicago Blackhawks, for a rebuilding team, are drunk with goalies right now. And the Carolina Hurricanes are not. Could the Blackhawks be suitors for the Hurricanes at the goalie position?

The Blackhawks have two solid goalies right now in Petr Mrazek and Arvid Soderblom. If there's one thing you cannot blame when it comes to the Blackhawks being the worst team in the league, it's the goaltending.

Mrazek currently has a 2.68 GAA and a .912 SV% across 15 games and Soderblom has a 2.36 GAA and a .926 SV% across six games. Soderblom was a shock after he performed poorly last season, and because he did, the Blackhawks went out and signed Laurent Brossoit.

Brossoit had a 2.00 GAA and a .926 SV% last season with the Winnipeg Jets as their backup. He was brought in this year to be the backup to Mrazek, but since Soderblom rose as a certified backup, they have three goalies and two spots on the roster. One of them is either going to have to be sent down to the AHL or traded.

Well, the Carolina Hurricanes could be a possible partner.

Frederick Anderson is out for the next eight to twelve weeks due to knee surgery he had. On the other hand, Pyotr Kochetkov is out on concussion protocol. The Hurricanes need a goalie, and according to Kevin Weekes, they're shopping for one.

Given the injury to G Kochetkov, the injury and surgery to G Andersen with being out 8-12 weeks, I'm told the @Canes are exploring potential G options in the market.

The Blackhawks could offer up one of Mrazek or Brossoit and get good value. Soderblom should be off the table after the season they're having.

Either way, the Hawks have the surplus to make this work, and Kyle Davidson should at least give this the light of day.
