Chicago Blackhawks issue major statement regarding winter classic with St Louis
News broke several hours ago the Chicago Blackhawks issued a major statement regarding the upcoming winter classic game against the St Louis Blues.
The outdoor game will be held at Wrigley Field and will be the 7th outdoor regular season game in the NHL. Over the past six years, the NHL has hosted this game on New Years day but it appears they've made a change and we'll have puck drop on December 31st.
It's likely they would like to capture the crowds for New Year's Eve just prior to the new year beginning.
The longstanding rivalry between these division rivals will add incentive to the game as many fans from both sides will be in attendance.
This game has come full circle as the original winter classic was held in Chicago in 2009. Tickets will go on sale on June 14th at 10:00 AM central time.
