The Blackhawks made a decision, moving defenseman Ethan Del Mastro to AHL Rockford. It wasn't a surprise, as he had just played his first two NHL games last week.

Del Mastro, who is 21 years old, got his chance in the NHL last Thursday. Although he didn't score any points, he showed strong defensive skills, helping his team to defend against the other side.

Unfortunately, despite his efforts, the Blackhawks lost both games to the Predators and Hurricanes, facing many shots on goal.

Meanwhile, in Rockford, Del Mastro has been having a great first professional season. He's been standing out as their best defenseman, scoring seven goals, earning 37 points, and boasting a +15 rating. These stats are the best among all the defensemen on the team. It's a positive sign for Del Mastro, who was also part of Canada's winning team at last year's World Juniors.

With some older players on the Blackhawks' defense facing expiring contracts, Del Mastro's strong performance could give him a chance to join the team next season, which kicks off in October.

Currently, he still has two more years on his first pro contract, which pays him $856,000 per year. After that, he'll become a restricted free agent in 2026.
