Blackhawks star Connor Bedard made headlines by signing a new sponsorship deal with Gatorade, catching the attention of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.
Last season, the NHL lost Gatorade as a primary sponsor, prompting the league to find a new beverage partner for team benches.
Bodyarmor stepped in to fill the role.
However, on July 16th, Daily Faceoff reported that Gatorade had signed Bedard as the new face of their brand, a role he now shares with his hockey idol, Sidney Crosby.
This year has been eventful for Bedard, from being traded early in the season, to a scandal involving former teammate Corey Perry, to suffering a broken jaw, and finally winning the Calder Trophy.
Now, with this lucrative deal, Bedard is certainly living his best life. Meanwhile, Bettman is likely frustrated by the inability to keep Gatorade as a league sponsor.
