While we're only a few weeks into the NHL regular season, trade talks never seem to die down.

Joe Yerdon of the Bleacher Report has speculated that three veteran NHL wingers could end up on the trade block soon.

One of them is former Blackhawk, and Stanley Cup champion, Patrick Kane who was thought to be part of the Yzerplan.

Kane recently signed a 1-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings, with a $4.0 Million AAV cap hit.

And Kane is scoring depth that any contending team needs if they want to make a deep push into the postseason.

Is this how Patrick Kane returns to New York?

Now that Kane's health isn't in question, and after an impressive season in 2023-2024, which saw him post 47 points in 51 games, he could be a sought-after rental come the trade deadline.

It looks as if the Red Wings will once again be nixed from playoff competition, are 3-3-0, and haven't looked like a team that could defeat someone like the New York Rangers, Dallas Stars, or even the Utah Hockey Club.

Much like we thought, Yerdon believes that a contender will want to hire him for his multi-position capabilities, and scoring touch.

Yerdon suggests that Kane could be moved to "help a contending team go for the Cup," as his offensive talent and championship pedigree are well-suited for a deep playoff run.

Remember Kane opted to play in Detroit after living there during his childhood.

But as Kane went through the process, in the back of his mind, he always came back to Detroit. At age 14 Kane moved away from home to play for the Michigan-based Honeybaked AAA program, where he billeted with Red Wings legend Pat Verbeek. Kane fell in love with Detroit, which was just as obsessed with hockey as he was. He adored the Red Wings' history and tradition.

Could tradition be thrown out in favor of winning a Stanley Cup? I could see it happening, especially if it's somewhere like New York or Toronto.
