Former Blackhawk and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Brandon Saad was placed on waivers today by the St. Louis Blues.

Brandon Saad is a former Blackhawk, who won two Stanley Cups during his tenure with the team.
Since he left the Chicago Blackhawks organization he has played for multiple teams, as he's played for the Colorado Avalanche in 2020, and has been a mainstay in the St. Louis Blues lineup.
Saad was open to a trade, and instead of sending him elsewhere, the Blues are waiving the 32-year-old veteran.
"I talked to he and his representative. If he gets claimed, he'll be on a new team," Armstrong said. "If not, he'll go down to play in Springfield. That will open up some space for different players that I'd like to see get in the lineup. So we'll see where it goes."
Saad could be headed to the AHL if he isn't claimed by another NHL team.
In 43 games this season he's only scored 16 points, a far cry from his prime years when he scored 52 points in 2014-2015.
Doug Armstrong made it clear, he had not been contributing to the Blues lineup as expected and is instead giving him a shot to be claimed by another team.
"There's been a group that's been here for a while and things don't seem to be changing. Collectively you have to start chipping further and further up," Armstrong said.

If he clears waivers he'll be an expensive addition to the Springfield Thunderbirds, Saad is in year four of a five-year contract that pays him $4.5 million per year.
While he may not be the same Saad who won multiple Stanley Cups, he could be a great addition to a team's bottom six as a depth goal scorer.
His placement on waivers follows a six-game point drought and a nine-goal drought.

If you were GM Kyle Davidson of the Chicago Blackhawks would you reunite with forward Brandon Saad?
