It is a testament to GM Kyle Davidson's draft strategy that four Blackhawks prospects have been nominated for a Hobey Baker Award.

The award is given to the best player in Division I hockey in the NCAA, last year it was given to Macklin Celebrini, a former Boston University Terrier, and 2024 1st overall pick.

Now, this season we've seen what Blackhawks prospects are made of, as four prospects including Sacha Boisvert, Sam Rinzel, Ryan Green, and Aidan Thompson have all been nominated for the award.

The Hobey Baker Memorial Award was created to promote amateur hockey in the United States by recognizing individuals who embody the legacy of Hobey Baker.

We honor outstanding collegiate hockey players, legends of hockey, and high school hockey players who demonstrate exceptional hockey skills, leadership, character, sportsmanship and scholastic achievement

Sacha Boisvert & Ryan Greene

Sacha Boisvert was selected 18th overall in the 2024 NHL Draft by Kyle Davidson. He's been on fire this season, providing us with highlight-reel goals, and has been a point-per-game player with the University of North Dakota, scoring 10 points( 3 G, 7 A) in 10 games. He has an excellent shot, and the makings of a power forward, getting in the dirty areas all the things a GM can love.

Ryan Greene was selected in the 2nd round of the 2022 NHL Draft and is Captain of the BU Terriers and former teammate to Macklin Celebrini. This season he's put on a show scoring 23 points in 21 games with the Terriers and could turn pro after this season ends.

Aidan Thompson & Sam Rinzel

Sam Rinzel was drafted 25th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft and has played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers during his collegiate career.

He's one of three players from the 2022 draft class who have earned a nomination for this award this year.

He could turn pro at the end of the season after being considered a long-term project by the team. But his production has been as expected, scoring 24 points( 9 G, 15 A) in 26 games.

Aidan Thompson won a World Championship in the IIHF, and later he earned a leadership role back in Denver afterward. He's scored a career-high 13 goals this season and is now 3 points from his career high, of 32 this year.

He's had back-to-back multi-point games with the Pioneers, and could eventually turn professional at the end of this collegiate season.

Could Coach David Carle make the jump with him? We'll find it out in April.
