Blackhawks goalie Laurent Brossoit will also miss about four more weeks after undergoing meniscus surgery in August. Levshunov was the 2024 No. 2 overall pick, was expected to start his career with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs.
Last season Levshunov tallied 35 points in 38 games as a freshman at Michigan State.
He signed his entry-level contract in July. Chicago brought in Brossoit during the offseason on a two-year, $3.3 million deal to share goaltending duties with Petr Mrazek.
