32 Thoughts Podcaster and Sportsnet analyst Elliotte Friedman posted a tweet earlier this evening stating that former Blackhawks goaltender Robin Lehner will not be reporting do the Vegas Golden Knights this season.
This situation clearly is serious as all three levels which include the NHL, the NHLPA and the Golden Knights organization are working towards a solution. McCrimmon goes on to say that Lennar is not fit to play and likely looking to get out from under the contract obligations.
The Daily Faceoff has also mentioned that Lehner had not reported to his medical which is a mandatory process for all NHL players for eligibility to play. The 33-year-old netminder has not played a single game in the end NHL since April 20th 2022. He is currently in his last year of his deal which was a five-year $25 million contract which holds a $4.5 million salary for this season.
Many fans and pundits are aware of Lehner's issues as he continues to battle mental health trouble which include bipolar disorder, ADHD and PTSD. Prior to his diagnosis he would use alcohol and drugs to escape from his demons.
It's likely that this will take time as the Golden Knights in all 31 other NHL teams have begun their training camp while preparing for the new season.
