Major news revealed on Blackhawks' 2025 NHL draft, Connor Bedard will finally find his Toews
The Chicago Blackhawks are gaining serious hope that they will be granted the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NHL draft at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles in June, due to their scheduling for the remaining of the season
Oddly enough, this is the first year of a big change to the NHL format, and location, as it's hosted at a small capacity theatre, but why?
This will be the NHL's first decentralized draft, a format used in the NBA, NFL and Major League Baseball that has teams making selections from their own facilities rather than traveling to a central location and making them from the draft floor. Outside of two years during the COVID pandemic, the NHL has had a single location host the draft since 1963.
ESPN reveals new draft format
As of right now, the Blackhawks are favorites at 25% odds in the NHL's lottery system to land the #1 overall pick of the 2025 draft; which would make three straight years of having a first round pick in the top 2.
Kane and Toews were an iconic duo throughout their Blackhawks careers, two generational prospects who elevated each others game, and now it's Connor Bedard's turn to play with someone of equal skill.
The Blackhawks will have the option to select one of James Hagens, Porter Martone, Michael Misa, or will they go off the board and select a defenseman, Matthew Schaefer?
Time will tell, and time will be used to the Blackhawks' advantage; specifically over the next three weeks as the Bedard and the dwelling Hawks will be on the toughest stretch of the season.
Their next nine games will be against Stanley Cup contending teams, including the Edmonton Oilers, Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers and other teams currently on a streak.
Buckle up Hawks fans.
It's looking like it's going to be a rough couple of weeks.
Fans must embrace for this rough stretch, but find the great in it as if the Blackhawks continue to lose majority of their games- there is a light at the end of the tunnel, another rookie sensation will be drafted within the organization with the No. 1 overall draft pick, like Connor Bedard was after a dreadful 2023 NHL season.
