Veteran forward Pat Maroon of the Chicago Blackhawks has been linked to the Stanley Cup-contending Tampa Bay Lightning.

Patrick Maroon is in the twilight of his career and has found himself playing as a fourth-liner and mentor for the Chicago Blackhawks.
He's been responsible for Lukas Reichel's newfound confidence after ongoing struggles last season.
Now, the Blackhawks could end up moving him soon, as he's been linked to his former Stanley Cup-winning team, the Tampa Bay Lightning. A team he won two Stanley Cups with.
NHL Insider Jeff Marek reported that the pending UFA could be one of the Blackhawks' trade-chips, as a veteran with three Stanley Cups to his name, and playoff experience.
With the Chicago Blackhawks, he currently marks $1.3 million, as a depth forward in the lineup.
Playoff contenders need physicality and size deep in the playoffs to not only create space on the ice, but to control the puck, and drop the gloves Maroon would be an ideal choice for the Lightning.
Not only would a reunion be suitable for the Lightning, he could help shore up the forward core against the Florida Panthers who play like a battering ram, when they're hot.
Jeff Marek on Pat Maroon's return to Tampa Bay:
"I imagine Chicago's Pat Maroon will be on the move by the NHL trade deadline, with a few teams out there looking for toughness along with 'rings in the room.' Maroon checks both those boxes. If you're Tampa, do you consider a reunion knowing you'll probably have to go through the Florida Panthers at some point in the playoffs?"
Maroon has played 49 games for the Blackhawks this season and scored 13 points(3 G, 10 A).
Instead of GM Kyle Davidson letting veteran players block the youth movement, he should call playoff contenders and see if any veterans would meet their needs whether on the blue line or bottom-six.
Maroon can still lay the body, fight, and score.
That's something Tampa Bay can use.
