The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Louis Crevier 188th overall in the 7th round of the 2020 Draft and has found himself a regular call-up for the team.

Typically, it's difficult for seventh-round draft picks to get a shot in the NHL, or more or less make the regular lineup.
At the moment, there are only 33 active seventh-rounders in the NHL or AHL in 2025. One of them is Quebec-born defenseman, Louis Crevier.
He's leveraged his opportunity as a call-up to earn a regular spot on the Blackhawks' depth chart and has seen significant time in the NHL this season and last.

This season, he's played a total of 23 games for the Blackhawks and scored 4 points( 3 G, 1 A).
As a defenseman who is not primarily known for his offensive upside, those 4 points are a bonus to the muscle the towering defenseman provides.
He's improved his game this time around, as this year he gets to reunite with Anders Sorensen in the NHL.
With that, instead of the -16 showing, we saw him post in 24 games with the Blackhawks, he's provided better defense for a -1.
His workhorse mentality has paid off for himself, and the Hawks, the odds of becoming an NHLer after being drafted in the seventh round is difficult enough.
Per The Hockey Writers.
The odds weren't always in Crevier's favor. As a 2020 seventh-round NHL Draft pick, the success rate of recording 1+ points in the NHL as a seventh-rounder is 18.8%.

He's done what many wouldn't have expected him to do, crack an NHL roster with only an 18.8% chance of becoming a regular 2nd-pairing defenseman.
While we know GM Stan Bowman primarily for his misses and his failures including Seth Jones.
Louis Crevier may be one Blackhawks player he's responsible for and should get the credit for it.
It's difficult to say and even think about, but Crevier has provided more value than his draft selection.
While he'll never be Joe Pavelski, he's a good defenseman for the Hawks, and that's enough.
