NOT GOOD: Red Wings Head Coach Provides Injury Update for Patrick Kane
The Detroit Red Wings' star forward Patrick Kane won't be hitting the ice for the remaining two games of the team's road trip, as confirmed by head coach Derek Lalonde.
Kane sustained a lower-body injury against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday, but it's a relief that it's not related to his previously surgically repaired hip.
The news is a setback for the Red Wings, given Kane's stellar performance since joining the team earlier this season. In 19 games, he has contributed seven goals and 16 points, making him a valuable asset for the Original Six club.
As the Red Wings strive to improve their playoff chances and climb in the standings, the absence of Kane is unwelcome news.
The hope is that he'll be ready to hit the ice again once the team returns to Detroit.
If Kane's absence extends beyond the next two games, it could have a negative impact on the Red Wings' forward group.
The team and fans will anxiously await updates on Kane's recovery, with fingers crossed for a speedy return to action.
