The Oilers will continue their dominant style of playing, holding on to win 3-2 against the Cinderella-story, Vancouver Canucks.
Corey Perry, however, was a healthy scratch against the Canucks and still earned a cool payday as a result of his negotiated contract.
With the Edmonton Oilers reaching the WCF, Perry is due $50,000 due to a clause in his contract, which states if the team advances to the WCF he is due another payday.
This has caused Ken Holland to put the Edmonton Oilers over salary with with $3.5 Million in cap penalties.
Corey Perry had been scratched recently, as he placed Connor Brown in the lineup who'd been on a drought earlier in the season. Who in 71 games has 12 points(4 G, 8 A) and a major beneficiary of knowing Connor McDavid.
It's puzzling why Perry was scratched, as he has better production than Brown, but it is Kris Knoblauch's team.
But you have to wonder if Perry's time is over in Edmonton, as a 39-year-old veteran and UFA. Thanks to Ken Holland he got to extend his career further than some people thought he should've considering his history with the Chicago Blackhawks.
With great options available in the off-season, will this spell the end of Perry's NHL career?
