Alex DeBrincat Said He's Happy to See Patrick Kane Leave Chicago and More in Today's Interview Before His Return to Chicago
Add Alex DeBrincat to the list of Chicago Blackhawks who were traded within the past year, for an underwhelming market value.
The Chicago Blackhawks traded Alex DeBrincat to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a third round pick, many fans were not happy about it. That first round pick ended up being Kevin Korchinski, who may not get a crack at the NHL for another few years, but still a solid player to help build the future in Chicago.
DeBrincat officially makes his first return to the United Centre tonight with his Ottawa Senators team, who are red hot in hopes to make one last large push to earn a playoff spot.
Just about one month ago, DeBrincat took time out of his interview to respond to questions regarding Patrick Kane in a Blackhawks jersey, DeBrincat, unlike any Blackhawks fan, was excited to see Kane get traded.
He said the league's excited to see if Kane can find "a new home" and get comfortable there.
DeBrincat: "It's been tough for him. A lot of his buddies got moved out last year and I think he's been going through a little bit of the injury stuff. ... It's a tough season. I can't say he probably wants to be in a rebuild right now, but you guys can ask him that."
Well, DeBrincat's wish of excitement to see Kane in a brand new jersey sadly unfolded. DeBrincat, today, commented on the Blackhawks and the current state of the roster:
"I looked at the board and I guess I don't know too many names on there, but it's still cool to be back. A lot of memories here, so it's been fun." #Blackhawks
"Being back here and not having Kane or Toews in the lineup is definitely different. You grow up watching those guys and then playing with them, they're definitely the heartbeat of that team and face of the franchise. Tough to see them not playing." #Blackhawks
"That was definitely weird. Seeing him in a different uniform was different but I think he'll do good there." #Blackhawks
