The Chicago Blackhawks lost forward Jason Dickinson to injury last night against the Edmonton Oilers, but it turns out the sprain isn't that serious.

Blackhawks forward Jason Dickinson was injured as a result of a slew foot by the Edmonton Oilers' Vasily Podkolzin.
Dickinson would be carried off the ice by his teammates, with 15:27 left in the second period, and wouldn't return to the game that night.
He walked out of the locker room after the game with a boot, and he was asked about the severity of the injury. Dickinson was hopeful the injury wasn't that serious. As are we.
Interim Coach Anders Sorensen's comments earlier led to speculation that it could be worse than we expected.
During his usual postgame presser, interim head coach Anders Sorensen said "It doesn't look good" when he was asked about the injury to Dickinson.
The veteran forward would be absent from practice Thursday but would receive some good news afterward. According to the team, he'll have imaging done on Friday, as he's been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.

He could be out no more or less than the next two weeks, which would result in him missing a two-game stretch where the Hawks play the Nashville Predators on Friday, and the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

Fortunately, the Hawks won't miss one of their best players for too long.

If the Hawks were to miss him long-term, his absence would be felt significantly, according to Ryan Donato.

"Very (tough)." Ryan Donato said when asked about how tough it is to lose Dickinson to injury. I mean, he's the ultimate teammate, ultimate guy, he's such a great person off the ice and such a great leader on the ice. Hopefully, everything is okay with him".

He's earned a lot of respect and praise from his teammates for his battle on the ice, and his impact with his teammates in the room.
"That's a guy you can't just replace". Alec Martinez, who knows a thing or two about irreplaceable players, said of Dickinson.

Dickinson has been a pivotal player in the Blackhawks rebuild and was acquired from the Canucks on October 7th, 2022.
He's rejuvenated his game in Chicago and scored a career-high 22 goals, and 35 points last season.
The team will be without their 2C for a few weeks, but this shouldn't impact his season significantly, or his trade value come March.
