BREAKING: Former Chicago Blackhawks Receives Discipline From The NHL
In a decision that has left many fans and pundits scratching their heads, the NHL Player Safety Committee has opted to impose a mere fine on Max Domi for his slash on Mark Stone during Game 3 of the Western Conference Final.
The Dallas Stars forward has been handed a $5,000 penalty, the maximum amount allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Critics argue that the punishment falls woefully short of the severity of Domi's action. Slashing incidents have historically resulted in suspensions, but in Domi's case it appeared to be a small love tap.
The video of the slash can be seen below, and it's as ordinary as any other slash you see, it's very small..
This decision raises concerns about the consistency and effectiveness of the NHL's disciplinary process.
In the end, Domi may have escaped relatively unscathed, but the debate over the leniency of his punishment will continue to linger, casting a shadow over the NHL's handling of disciplinary matters.
