The talks around the NHL this week revolve one of the biggest trades within the 2000's which sent Matthew Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers and going the other way sent Florida's assistant captain Jonathan Huberdeau, defenseman McKenzie Weegar, draft picks and a prospect to the Calgary Flames. This trade made a few notable things which made NHL history but one that stands out the most is that this is the first time two 100+ point players were traded for each other since Wayne Gretzky was traded way back in his time.

Many were blown away and the NHL was shocked as it was clear the Calgary Flames got the much better return in the trade, until info was released that the two players Calgary received (Huberdeau and Weegar) are free agents next July, meaning they can choose to leave the Flames if wanted. Which raised question into who the true winner of that blockbuster deal was? Well, it seems like it is bounced back to the Calgary Flames after Jonathan Huberdeau made these comments on what his future holds in Calgary.

Question: So.. open to possibility of remaining a Calgary Flame?

Huberdeau's answer: I'm open to staying in Calgary for a long time. Calgary has a good squad and i want to make a run for the Stanley Cup.

Huberdeau also says his agent and Flames general manager have spoken already.

Huberdeau ''I have been to the Calgary stampede one time three or four years ago.. we know the fans are passionate.. when you play here, it is always loud and people know their stuff. I think that is the most exciting part.''
