BREAKING: Marc-Andre Fleury Makes an Emotional Statement on His Future
With the Minnesota Wild now eliminated from the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs following their loss to the Dallas Stars, the hockey world's attention turned to veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.
As a three-time Stanley Cup champion, Fleury's career accomplishments are already firmly cemented. But at 38 years old, many wondered if this post-season defeat might signal the end of his career. After the game, Fleury was asked about his plans going forward.
In response, Fleury made it clear that he has every intention of playing in the 2023-24 season.
Fleury made clear he plans to play one more year and then «that might be it.»
However, he did acknowledge that it will be his last. It's a decision that ultimately rests with him, and with nothing left to prove, Fleury's continued presence on the ice would be more a matter of personal desire than any sense of obligation.
Fleury's plans for retirement would also involve embarking on a new journey of life with his wife Veronique Larosee Fleury and their three children. But for now, the focus remains on his play on the ice (for one more year).
