Niklas Hjalmarsson stepped away from the game of hockey just fifteen months ago, the thirty five year old defensemen retired on a good note, in the best shape ever looking very fit. The Blackhawks also honoured ''the hammer'' at the end of last season.
The Hammer stated in a interview this summer that he has been itching away and dreams to play some professional hockey once again, and he has sure stuck to that dream, and confirmed it today on November tenth 2022.
Reports state The Hammer will return to pro hockey in Swedens best hockey league, the SHL. Hjarlmsson stated the following this summer, and us at Blackhawks Nation cannot be happier for the hammer to have his childhood dream come true:
'' There have always been thoughts of playing in HV71 again and the desire has become even greater when I have been to the matches and felt the atmosphere in the arena. I drive by Husqvarna Garden every day and think about what it would have been like to play in HV71and I really want to give this a chance or I will regret it in the future.
I have great respect for the SHL as a league and now I will start training with the team to feel what I stand for. Then whether it will be two weeks, a year or three years, the future will tell. But I'm incredibly excited for hockey again and it will be great fun to come to Husqvarna Garden on Monday and meet everyone.''
