Blackhawks Are Planning a Massive $65M Investment Into Two New Rinks
The Chicago Blackhawks have announced plans to expand Fifth Third Arena with two hockey rinks, parking spaces, a neighboring park, and a Divvy station.
The project, expected to be finished in 2026, will create approximately 260 construction jobs. The team purchased the adjacent land for $23.5 million from Rush University Medical Center, gaining approval from the City Council in April. As part of the agreement, Rush will contribute $6.3 million to the Sankofa Wellness Village, benefiting the West Garfield Park community.
Sara Guderyahn, the Blackhawks' Vice President of Social Impact & Outreach, highlighted the organization's commitment to sports programming and community development. The proposal is awaiting approval from the City Council, exciting Blackhawks fans.
