The Blackhawks have always been decent at drafting defensemen, but this new wave of defensemen may be the best yet.
You have Alex Vlasic and Alec Regula right there as one of the few blue chips of the AHL, along with some others who happened to make the Canada Junior roster.
LD Kevin Korchinski, LD Nolan Allan, and LD Ethan Del Mastro made the team. 3/4 LD are Hawks', except for Carson Lambos, a 1st round pick by the Minnesota Wild in 2021. Korchinski is doing great on the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL), having 7 goals, 12 assists, totaling up to 19 points in only 12 games. Allan plays for the Prince Albert Raiders (WHL). Nolan has 4 goals, 4 assists, totaling up to 8 points in 14 games. Del Mastro plays for the Mississauga Steelheads (OHL), the only Blackhawk on the roster not in the WHL. Ethan has himself 2 goals, 10 assists, adding up to 12 points in 12 games.
There is no doubt Chicago has a bright future, but how they execute the growth of the young guns is going to be huge for the future.
