Sam Lafferty ended up leaving the game against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday after the second period. He didn't return for the third period, and Luke Richardson said he was under evaluation during that time. This morning it was confirmed that Lafferty won't play today against the Montreal Canadiens due to an upper-body injury.
Lafferty didn't practice yesterday morning, taking a maintenance day. It's unclear how many games he'll miss, but Boris Katchouk will take his spot in the lineup until he's healthy. Richardson said Lafferty was sore, but didn't specify what his injury was.
Lafferty has 7 points (3G, 4A) in 19 games, and this will be the first game he'll miss this season. This will also be Katchouk's first game since Nov. 16 against the St. Louis Blues, who has yet to earn a point in nine games.
