Tonight, the Chicago Blackhawks look to get back on track as they visit the Buffalo Sabres for their first meeting of the season.
The Blackhawks fell in heartbreaking fashion Thursday night to the Edmonton Oilers 6-5 in a wild game. This game was one of the wildest ones in recent memory, with 20 penalties called and plenty of physicality and skill on display. The Blackhawks 4 game winning streak was snapped, dropping their record to 4-3-0. The Blackhawks put together a good showing and will look to translate it to the meeting with Buffalo.
The Buffalo Sabres are currently 1st in the Wild Card in the Eastern Conference with a 4-3-0 record. The Sabres had some expectations this season and are playing some decent hockey at the moment. Alex Tuch leads the Sabres in goals with 5, while the old Blackhawk Vinnie Hinostroza leads the team in assists with 5.
The Blackhawks will have the advantage on the powerplay, as they rank 7th best in the NHL while the Sabres rank 24th best. The Blackhawks also lead the league in faceoff percentage.
The Blackhawks currently sit in 3rd place in the Central Division and will look to climb higher in the standings after the conclusion of tonight's game. Let's go Hawks!
