The Blackhawks are finally shaking up the defensive pairings after a terrible stretch of hockey. The Blackhawks announced that defenseman Alec Regula has been assigned to the Rockford IceHogs. A corresponding move has not yet been announced.
Regula has played in 4 games this season for the Blackhawks and has not registered a point. He is a +/- -3 in his 4 games and has only registered 2 shots on goal. He has averaged 16:36 time on ice this season and has 7 giveaways. The move doesn't come as a surprise given the recent struggles and the glaring hole left by Seth Jones due to his injury. Regula is only 22 years old, so playing valuable minutes in Rockford at this point in time may be what is best for his development.
