The Blackhawks placed David Gust on waivers with the intention to reassign him back to the Rockford IceHogs. Gust was recently brought up from Rockford and made his NHL debut against the San Jose Sharks. Gust scored his first career NHL goal on his first shift, which was a big moment for a player who considered quitting hockey last summer.
Gust was playing fantastic hockey in Rockford ahead of his promotion and scoring at almost a point per game pace. After the Blackhawks fire sale, it appears that Davidson and the front office is looking to have all hands on deck in Rockford as they make an AHL playoff push. Gust will certainly help Rockford in their quest, but hopefully he can clear waivers first.
