Towards the end of the 2nd period in last night's win over the Rangers, Petr Mrazek appeared to injure himself while making a save attempt. He finished the period, but did not return for the 3rd, being replaced by Arvid Soderblom, who made 5 of 6 saves to help the Hawks keep their lead and win, 5-2.
After the game, it was confirmed that Mrazek did indeed suffer a groin injury, but different from his previous one.
To add insult to injury, Mrazek was also hit with a delay of game penalty for knocking the net off its moorings. I understand the NHL needs to take a stand, but this seemed truly accidental, and it was the first infraction.
Mrazek has been working with specialists, physiotherapists, and chiropractors to help him deal with his groin injuries, so hopefully his new workout routine will have made this injury less severe than the last, and we'll see him back in net sooner, rather than later.
