Elliotte Friedman announced via his twitter on Monday morning that the Leafs will have to do without the services of a pair of their top-four defenceman.

Both TJ Brodie and Jake Muzzin are out with an oblique injury, for the former, that will result in a stint on the injured reserve list, with an update looming. The latter has been out most of the 2022-23 campaign, having played just four games before suffering a cervical spine injury, which will be reported re-evaluated in late February.

That said, it doesn't much seem that Mac Hollowell will be a great solution for the near, nor far future.

So, Kyle Dubas may have to pick up the phone and inquire about the price to bring in a serviceable defenceman or two, the Blackhawks have many available, and many who will be moved at the NHL trade deadline- if the offer is right, why not move them now for better in-season value?

A few of Kyle Davidsons' ''impressive'' off-season acquisitions is Jack Johnson, Max Domi and Andreas Anthanasiou.

Three players who Davidson signed to affordable, cheap contracts in hopes to flip them to contenders at the trade deadline.
