It's been a very tough road as of late for Chicago Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews. Not just with the team being last in the NHL standings, but also with his well publicized health issues.
Despite all of that, it would be understandable If Toews wasn't feeling like meeting a fan. However, anyone who knows Jonathan Toews knows he always has time for a fan no matter what.
Toews indeed did that by surprising a young 7 year-old Blackhawks fan named Declan. The little guys favorite player was Jonathan Toews and back in 2019 Declan wanted to go see the Blackhawks play on his birthday. Unfortunately the Covid pandemic ruined that.
Well Declan's grandma wrote to the Today show in Chicago hoping for her grandson to meet Jonathan Toews. Not only did Toews reply, he replied in a big way, sending the little guy a special birthday message and gave him a meet and greet along with a tour of the Blackhawks dressing room before taking in a Blackhawks game at the United Center courtesy of Jonathan Toews.
